You know that feeling when someone drops a surprise gift on your door and it’s actually something awesome and not a flaming bag of poop?
Yeah that’s kind of how it felt when Sophia from Zomato Vancouver emailed us about attending their #ZomatoXSandbar meetup.

Obviously we said yes.

Following our recent Asian theme, we yielded to our sushi cravings at Minami, sister restaurant (literally sisters, as the two restaurants are named after the owner’s daughters) of the equally renowned Miku Restaurant.
O hai Minami
Back in the day when this blog was just a twinkle in our eyes, we knew beyond a doubt that we’d be paying a well deserved visit to the famous Mega Sushi (G: Well mostly because Mell wouldn’t shut up about their rolls). We’d both eaten here before, but Mell’s frequented it since its opening days and would religiously come here an average of 4x per week. (M: You know you’re dedicated and love sushi when… G: Or insane.) It’s been a family favourite and it’s become tradition for any traveller who’s crossed Mell’s path to be introduced to MEGA.

It’s actually hard to believe we waited this long to blog about sushi, considering it’s our favourite food. (Although really we’re probably just overcompensating because we know there will be 100 sushi posts by the end of the year.)
Today, we went completely random, with a place that neither of us had been to before: Ajisai Sushi Bar. Located in Kerrisdale, it’s a bit of a hole-in-the-wall, so you might want to give yourself a few extra minutes to find Ajisai if it’s your first time there too. Luckily, we managed to get in right before the lineup started forming. Which was good, because we were both starving. Like ravenous-starving.
